Here are some local entrepreneurs part of the PrincetonKIDS community that have created unique children’s products capturing widespread acclaim.

Karin Telegadis, Ah Goo Baby

Karin Telegadis spent ten years as a television executive before dedicating herself fully to the needs of her children – Grace and Sophia. In 2005, Karin and George Telegadis, formed the baby products company Ah Goo Baby®. Their first product, The Plush Pad®, is considered the highest luxury in portable diaper changing stations. It was just introduced this year and is already found in stores as far reaching as Australia, the United Kingdom, and Europe. It can also be found in the diaper bags of Marcia Cross, Amanda Peet, Naomi Watts, Jason Priestly, and many other pleased celebrity parents.

The Plush Pad® is truly innovative and unique in the marketplace, and the Telegadis’ believe that it will fill a void for on-the-go moms and dads. It’s designed with a body-contouring memory foam insert for the little baby’s sensitive pressure points, has chic cotton fabrics, is machine washable and water-repellant, and is the only portable changing pad that is comfortable for the child. With The Plush Pad®, many customers rave that they no longer dread changing diapers when outside of the comfort of their own home. It’s also great for long hotel stays, car or plane trips, as a second changing pad around the home, or to give to grandparents/relatives who often sit the children. With its convenient and compact rolling design, you can also throw it in your stroller for a walk to the park or playground. Indeed, there are other portable pads in the marketplace and that come in your diaper bag as a freebie, but they’re all cold, hard, and meant to be wiped down with a sponge after use. “Not with The Plush Pad®,” says Karin. The company’s slogan for the product is “Style meets practical. Baby meets plush.” and she means it!

The Plush Pad® is currently offered in six great styles - Cha Cha, Jungle, Retro-Daisy, Buttercup Paradise, Vintage in Pink, and Rascal. Ah Goo Baby® is set to expand the array of styles this winter, adding Spa, Lagoon Paradise, and Vintage in Blue.

Available at Tippy Toes at 20 Nassau Street in Princeton. Visit www.ahgoobaby.com for more information.

Katy Terry, Little Tumblers Table Toppers

Katy Terry created Little Tumblers Table Toppers out of necessity. When Katy’s toddler began to pull herself upright on the coffee table, Katy knew she needed a safety solution. She developed the idea for the Little Tumblers Table Topper — a safety cover used to childproof coffee tables.

It was important to Katy that the Little Tumblers Table Topper serve a safety purpose, but also look great, to maintain the aesthetics of her customers’ living rooms.

Katy sewed all of the products herself (in her dining room) for the first six+ months of business and stopped only when she was too pregnant to continue. She still runs the business out of her home while raising her two young children. Now she has two wonderful local women seamstresses and a factory owned and run by a woman to produce her standard-sized products.

Prior to starting Little Tumblers, Katy taught for Princeton Day School. Katy graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A., and earned her MA from the St. John’s College Graduate Institute.

She is involved with local charities, including Trinity Counseling Services and the Lawrenceville Women’s Club.

Cricket and Brian Allen, bot fortified water

bot fortified water was started by local husband and wife team, Cricket and Brian Allen. When their twins girls hit the “juice box” age, they were blown away by the sugar content, its ability to squirt and stain at each attempt to sip and the overall packaging - so they decided to create bot fortified water to meet their and other parent’s needs for hydrating their kids, well.
Their goal was to create the best tasting, all natural, low-sugar fortified water for kids with a friendly, contemporary package that is a rewarding and fun experience for both parents and kids.

What is bot?
bot is good. naturally good. no artificial flavors, sweeteners, colors or preservatives. low in sugar and calories and fortified with vitamins B3, B5, B6 and B12.
bot comes in 3 flavors -grape, berry and orange.
bot tastes great - flavorful, refreshing, crisp, clean and clear - not too sweet.
80% less sugar than leading kids juices = 9g/sugar and 40/calories per 12 oz serving.
bot, the name - the Allen twins first word!
